Offers you a ‘one product’ solution to help combat a wide range of aphid species affecting soft fruit crops.                                 

This single product comprises a mix of 5 different parasitoids which combine to help control the typical range of aphid species.

 

The benefits of this approach are:
Full identification of all species of aphid present is not necessary
No resistance is possible
Zero harvest interval
Reduced reliance on conventional controls
Reliable and consistent quality
Quick and easy application

 

How it works:

The parasitoids search out aphids and impregnate them with parasitoid eggs

- this kills the aphid, and ultimately results in the next generation of parasitoids emerging.

 

Rates of application:

Note that temperatures must be >16oC
Preventative      1 x cylinder per 400m2 every 2 weeks
Light curative    1 x cylinder per 200m2, weekly for a minimum of 3 applications

 

 

 

Thrips Control in Strawberries

Chemical control of thrips is increasingly difficult. An integrated approach is important,

with the emphasis on biological treatments.

Bio-control programmes are best started early, temperature permitting.

The backbone of thrips control is the predatory mite Neoseiulus cucumeris (Thripex), available as a slow release sachet, or loose in bran.

Temperatures should be minimum 15oC, preferably 20o-25oC.

 

Thripex Plus sachets can be applied as a preventative treatment of one sachet for every 2 linear metres of strawberry crop.

These release predatory mites over a 6 week period, and should ideally be applied before flowering.

 

For early thrips attacks, or sites with a thrips history, use loose Thripex at 25-50 mites per plant - a minimum of 3 applications are recommended at 1-2 week intervals.
Oruis laevigatus (Thripor L) is an effective predator of thrips, used to complement Thripex, not as an alternative.
Orius can be sensitive to chemical applications, and require higher temperatures to operate, minimum 20oC.
They will attack all stages of thrips including adults, frequently being found in flowers, and co-habit well with Thripex.

 

Thripex (Neoseiulus cucumeris)

Preventative     Thripex-Plus @ 1 sachet per 2 linear meters of crop

Light curative      Thripex @ 25 predators per plant - minimum of 3 applications

Heavy curative    Thripex @ 50 predators per plant - minimum of 3 applications

 

Thripor L (Orius laevigatus)

Light curative       Thripor L @ 0.25 - 1 Orius per plant - minimum of 2 applications

Heavy curative    Thripor L @ 2 Orius per plant - minimum of 2 applications

Spidex (Phytoseiulus persimilis) remains the main stay of our TSM programmes.

Control is excellent providing application is even and care is taken with choice of non-biological products applied.

 

Rates of application of Spidex are as follows:

The application rates for raspberry are expressed per m2, as a more appropriate rate to account for the variety of growing systems employed now.
