Exhibitors at next month's Fruit Focus show at East Malling in Kent (22 July) will be unveiling a number of innovations to the industry.

Wholesale tree nursery Frank Matthews has worked with Germany's stone-fruit tree specialist Gräb Nursery to bring several new cherry varieties to the UK market for the first time, including two white-fleshed forms.

French supplier Janny will bring its innovative controlled-atmosphere storage boxes, aimed particularly at the top-fruit market.  These bring the advantages of controlled-atmosphere storage, including control of carbon dioxide and oxygen levels, to conventional fruit cold stores in an affordable way, it said.

Goplasticpallets.com and Goplasticboxes.com will be returning to the show to promote the benefits of their plastic fruit trays and growers' crates, including GoBox5351 perforated nest and stacking bale arm crate.

Bato will be showing three new products for soft-fruit growers - a seven-litre square pot, a 12-hole strawberry tray and an 18-hole strawberry mini tray - while Agrovista will officially launch its early-warning system for the notifiable disease fireblight, the first of its kind on the UK market.
