Agrovista UK has bought independent seed wholesaler and breeder agent John Ebbage Seeds.

This latest move to expand Agrovista’s seed interests follows its purchase of Scottish South West Seeds, one of Scotland’s largest seed merchants, in spring last year.  The Ebbage Seeds move would allow technical development and investment in the seeds sector and offer important opportunities for growth, said Paul Nickerson, owner of John Ebbage Seeds.

“The partnership will allow the continuation of the existing Ebbage business model for current clients while opening new areas to evolve the business with Agrovista.”  All of the Ebbage Seeds business staff will transfer to Agrovista UK, which has more than 20% of the UK crop protection market and is part of Agrovista BV, which in turn is part of the international Marubeni Corporation.

Ebbage Seeds has been trading seed for more than 20 years, working with international plant breeders, leading seed growers and the UK’s principal processors and seed retailers.
