Agrovista’s Dundee depot – taking sprayer care to the next level across Scotland and beyond

Agrovista’s Dundee depot is going from strength to strength following a substantial upgrade two years ago, in particular its sprayer provision service which now covers all aspects of sales and maintenance.

Engineering manager Wayne Donald says: “We can offer our customers new sprayers from several leading manufacturers, a vast range of parts and service plan agreements to minimise unplanned and potentially costly downtime.

“The new workshop facilities reflect our commitment to providing the best service we can. We carry out all major work on site, but we also spend a lot of time on farm doing smaller jobs and checking sprayers for the National Sprayer Testing Scheme.

“We cover all points from Edinburgh northwards. We are very much a specialist sprayer operation, so we like to think our specialist knowledge has played a key part in increasing our customer base and providing farmers with the service they expect.”

The depot, which is sited at West Adamston Farm, Muirhead, also has a new parts counter that benefits from advanced stock management software and supplies a wider range of spares than before.

Customers can obtain face-to-face advice. The service is proving especially popular during busy spraying times when every hour counts this far north. The depot also despatches parts to all areas of the UK usually within 48 hours, often sooner, including valves, filters, pumps, fittings and hoses.

The depot carries a large stock of nozzles from leading brands including Hypro, Syngenta, Teejet, Billericay and Lechler, which can also be shipped nationwide.

“Plant protection products are not cheap, so we want to ensure that growers can get the best return on their investment,” says Wayne.

“Our agronomists advise on which product is most appropriate to use, and how to get the best from it, and we can now supply the right nozzle technology to growers to maximise efficacy and boost returns.”

Neil Macleod, farms manager at Southesk Farms, a 1600ha farming and contracting business based near Brechin in Angus, says: “The Agrovista sprayer depot near Dundee is invaluable to Southesk Farms due to its locality and the range of services it offers.

“It holds the franchises for a number of leading sprayer manufacturers and as such we have purchased a total of four sprayers over the years. The latest is a new Chafer Interceptor self-propelled sprayer bought in 2019 following a number of demonstrations of the machine organised by Agrovista.

“The back-up we receive is second to none and the knowledge and technical ability of the service engineers is exemplary. On top of this Agrovista has invested heavily in a robust range of spare parts, which gives extra confidence when choosing a new machine especially when farming in the north.”
