Phosphorus is a crucial nutrient for healthy crop growth and development, playing a vital role in various physiological processes, including energy transfer, photosynthesis, and root development.
It is essential for building strong root systems, supporting overall plant vigour and influencing flowering, fruiting and seed formation. Phosphorus is also a key component of ATP, the energy currency of the plant, and participates in the synthesis of nucleic acids, proteins and enzymes.
Phosphorus liberation technologies
Traditional phosphate fertilisation involves applying large quantities of product to the soil to be available to the crop through root uptake. This approach, however, has been proven to be very inefficient because, in certain soil types, phosphorus reacts with metals in the soil rendering it unavailable to the crop. Using phosphate liberation technologies can improve the efficiency of soil-applied products as well as releasing previously applied phosphorus fertilisers back into crop-available forms.
Phosphorus Liberator (5-20 L/ha)
A soil-applied product that improves efficiency of applied phosphate fertilisers and manures and dissolves existing phosphorous locked up in the soil, making it available to plants and improving soil health. Phosphorus Liberator works by using carboxylic acid technology to release and keep bound calcium phosphate in solution, making it available for plant uptake. This process effectively unlocks phosphorus reserves in the soil that would otherwise be unavailable to plants.
Phosta (2-4 L/ha)
A proprietary, soil-applied phosphate protecting and release agent that works to protect newly applied phosphate and to release fixed forms already present in the soil. Applying Phosta to soil with adequate moisture significantly improves the availability of phosphorus by binding up key ions such as calcium and iron, preventing them reacting with the soil phosphate, making it more readily available for crop uptake. It also releases trace elements such as copper and zinc, improving soil health and plant growth.
Phosphate scavenging
Endophyte treatments, such as seed dressings or foliar applications at the three-leaf stage, have been proven to both solubilise and help crops sequester phosphorus from the soil.
Nuello iN
Nuello iN + Extender contains a unique blend of nitrogen-fixing and phosphate-sequestering endophyte bacteria as a biological seed treatment for use in cereals.
Tarbis
A unique consortium of two endophyte bacteria designed to be foliar applied to crops to fix nitrogen and improve phosphorus uptake.
Foliar phosphites
Phosphite applications can stimulate root growth and development, leading to a larger root system that can explore a greater volume of soil and access more phosphorus. When applied to the leaves, phosphites can trigger the plant to increase its uptake of phosphorus from the soil.
Calfite Extra (0.5-2L/ha)
A unique 50% calcium phosphite formulation in combination with L-PGA to enhance optimise nutrient use efficiency for a wide range of crops. It works by mimicking a phosphorus deficiency in plants, which stimulates root growth and improves nutrient uptake. The phosphite component in Calfite Extra tricks the plant into thinking it is in a phosphorus-deficient situation, leading to increased root length, biomass and exudation. This improved root system allows the plant to better access nutrients from the soil, including phosphorus, and enhances overall plant health and growth.
Foliar phosphorus
Applying foliar phosphorus through leaves rather than roots can be a very efficient form of phosphorus fertilisation. This method can be beneficial when soil conditions hinder root uptake of phosphorus or when quick nutrient correction is needed.
Luxor (1L/ha)
Luxor is a nutrient-biostimulant product based on two forms of available phosphorus in a humic/fulvic acid complex that enhances phosphorus availability and utilisation in plants. It works by delivering phosphorus quickly and efficiently, stimulating soil biology, and increasing nutrient uptake, leading to enhanced growth and yields.
Luxical (2L/ha)
Luxical is a bio-available organic acid formulation of phosphorus. The activated complex of three different P sources maximises plant availability by reducing soil lock up and increasing foliar uptake. Its unique blend of ortho- and polyphosphate with calcium phosphite is further supported with pidolic acid (L-PGA) to enhance nutrient use efficiency, supporting plant growth and development for optimal yield.
